E soprattutto quanto sia destinata a restare tale.Pensate uno che acquisti una scheda Nvidia spinto dalla loro superiorità Hardware e dal miglior supporto driver,per poi ritrovarsi con una patch che rende le AMD superiori,che fa cambia scheda di nuovo o incrocia le dita?

La strada di assottigliamento dell'elefantiaca sovrastruttura degli abstract layers é una cosa buona e giusta.
In 30 anni siamo passati dagli eroi dell'assembly a programmazione visuale.
Non si chiede di tornare al metallo (sarebbe impossibile) ma un minimo di decenza.
Bene queste Vulkan, molto bene.

Bah, imho la verità invece è che Doom gira dimmerda su OpenGL e su DX11/12 supererebbe tranquillamente le performance di Vulkan, basta vedere i risultati che ha dato con Talos Principle:

Certo, potrebbe essere un caso di ottimizzazione al contrario.
Vediamo che accade comunque, voglio essere moderatamente positivo.

Bah, imho la verità invece è che Doom gira dimmerda su OpenGL e su DX11/12 supererebbe tranquillamente le performance di Vulkan, basta vedere i risultati che ha dato con Talos Principle:

This. It was supposed to be hard, but worthwhile. Much better than DX11 where it's "easier", but then we don't have enough control. The point that there's still room to work on this for years is a good one - because the performance will keep on improving for a long time. With DX9-11 we quickly hit the brick wall of limitations imposed by the API and that wasn't moving for years. The only improvements were done by buying better hardware. Note also that due to DX9-11 badly designed threading architecture all our work on a multithreaded renderer was way too complicated with way too little gain. We now need to rearchitect it to support proper mutlithreading now that Vulkan can do it. That will take time, but I expect results with near-linear speed up when adding cores (just as it is now in physics and collision code).

GTX 1060 IN 16 GAMES VS RX 480 VS 970 VS 980

In pratica è una via di mezzo tra la 970 e la 980, non ne vale proprio la pena.
Mi sa che l'unica mossa sensata al momento è aspettare che calino un po' i prezzi della 1070.
