Penso che dar contro ai Metallica per qualcuno faccia ancora molto figo.

Io dico che dovrebbero andare in pensione. Non i Metallica, ma quelli che hanno scritto e approvato questa recensione .
Non sanno come criticare i Metallica e tirano fuori l'argomento a piacere, tipo il "vuoto" della voce di James o la "banalità"della  batteria di Lars.
Certo, perchè in Master o in Justice James aveva una voce totalmente diversa,oppure Lars era ultra tecnico con 7 minuti di doppia cassa a canzone, vero?
Ma non fatemi ridere, è un disco molto buono, a tratti ottimo, con un bel pò di tracce che possono essere suonate dal vivo senza scontentare nessuno. Punto. Se poi questi recensori sono "cresciuti" musicalmente e non gli vanno bene i riff thrash, che cambino cd e ascoltino altra roba.

Spesso leggendo le recensioni ho avuto l'impressione che chi muoveva critiche del tipo "non sono più i metallica di una volta" in realtà non abbia mai ascoltato i metallica di una volta. Anche perchè altrimenti non giudicherebbero come un difetto dell'album il semplice fatto oggettivo che la voce inizi dopo due minuti e non subito. Dai, se non vuoi parti strumentali nelle canzoni, non dico che non devi ascoltare i Metallica, ma neanche il Metal.

Ma, io ho smesso di leggere le recensioni di DM (ero curioso, sorry) dopo aver letto questa critica "The U III parte che sembra Morricone, che schifo".

Mi fanno morire quelli che hanno scritto che nn sembra un album thrash e questi nn sembrano i Metallica...
Ma cazzo, uno dei pochi limiti di questo disco è proprio quello che ogni traccia sembra la riproposizione di uno vecchio, versione 2008 (e inevitabilmente meno di qualità)..
ma si può dico io?
Io sono d'accordo sul fatto che gli ultimi 3 dischi abbiamo deluso in tanti... ma nn vedo perchè bisogna tiare merda su un disco che penso bene o male, nn possa nn far piacere a tutti i metallifan in giro... nn si riesce proprio più a giudicare in modo oggettivo i metallica??? giudichiamo solo il disco... e' mixato di merda ok, peggio di guitar hero, ok... ma è thrash caxxo e da quanto nn lo scrivevano un disco così.. e dai...

People who suffer from acute anxiety are often stalked in dreamland by a faceless marauder. The victim awakens breathing hard, clutching sheets wet with their own cold perspiration. Metallica brilliantly chronicles these perils in “All Nightmare Long,” the 8-minute linchpin of the metal gods’ spectacular comeback album Death Magentic.

It’s similar in theme to “Enter Sandman,” from the band’s 1991 self-titled commercial breakthrough; however, “All Nightmare Long’s” sonic thrust recalls the heavy artillery majesty found on the band’s 1980s thrash classics Kill ‘Em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. On “All Nightmare Long,” a slow, foreboding intro hastily gives way to a bunker-busting assault of thwack, thwack, thwack. Then James Hetfield’s beastly growl surfaces, sounding as authoritative and dangerous as it did decades ago. Unlike the majority of today’s metal frontmen, Hetfield makes his declarations decipherable, with the pulverizing rhythm pausing as he drills home a decisive chorus like: “Feel us breathe upon your face/Feel us shift, every move we trace/Hunt you down without mercy/ Hunt you down all nightmare long.”


The Rick Rubin-produced Death Magnetic revisits the mesmerizing speed, shred and staccato vocals template that defined thrash twenty-five years ago. The start-stop dynamic results in the aural equivalent of whiplash. There are no nods to prog via tricky time signatures or keyboard flourishes. The only time when the band slightly loses its way is on the post-grunge-leaning “The Unforgiven III.” Despite a string of lackluster albums, inner turmoil and piss poor fan treatment in the years following 1991’s Metallica, Death Magnetic finds the band bringing down the sonic sledgehammer with all the ferocity that made them rock ’n’ roll anti-heroes during Reagan’s reign. Could the sins of Hetfield, guitarist Kirk Hammett and even drummer Lars Ulrich be forgiven?

Metallica has comforted legions of disenfranchised youths by exploring timeless themes of mortality, anxiety, fear and desire. With vintage Metallica, the listener rides shotgun with the devil, laughs along with the horned bastard as he deals death and destruction. Ride the lightning, Metallica said, acknowledge the worst in this existence and the pain of being a man will lessen. The band endured undue criticism for their melodic, acoustic-tinged, multi-million-selling ’91 album. But the string of shit releases that followed, compounded by the band’s (Ulrich’s) attack on file-sharing sites like Napster, made them a hard act to love. Death Magnetic, though, is first-rate penance.

With astonishing effort Death Magnetic became the fastest selling album in one week since Christmas 2006 making it the fastest selling album of 2007 and 2008 to date.

Owning the charts this week an additional four Metallica albums are situated in the chart. Metallica (24). Master Of Puppets (33), And Justice For All (36) and Ride The Lightening (38) giving Metallica five albums within the top 40. Two DVDs are in the top 15 - The Videos 1989 - 2004 (7) and S&M (12) and six singles are in the top 100 on digital sales alone, "Day That Never Comes" (38), "Unforgiven III" (41), "My Apocalypse" (74), "Cyanide" (75), "Enter Sandman" (83) and "Nothing Else Matters" (100).

Il discorso era su un altro piano, e cioè che è col successo del trittico Master/Justice/Metallica che sono stati inquadrati come rivoluzionari anti-reaganiani (anche se "Don't Tread On Me" del Black Album sembra andare in direzione opposta).

Nonostante una serie di album di merda, casini e sberleffi da parte dei fan a seguito di Metallica (1991), DM rivede la band ritrovare la ferocia sonora(libero, in quanto letteralmente intraducibile) che li ha resi gli antieroi del rock durante il "regno" di Regan.
Potranno i loro peccati essere perdonati (riferendosi agli album di merda)

mi sembra chiaro non faccia riferimenti alla politica, ma solo alla furia sonora

poi vabbé definire UnforgivenIII "post-grunge leaning" é ancora sinonimo di dipendenza dalla colla
l'unica cosa che ha in comune quel pezzo col grunge é che é suonato con strumenti simili (e una chitarra in più, di solito) ma meglio
